Hot Yoga is a sequence of yoga postures performed in a heated environment. The increased temperature in the room allows an increase in stretching and flexibility and helps to prevent injury. The hot temperature combined with the yoga poses means that you will sweat a lot and burn calories. Your body will experience a huge detoxification as well. Drinking plenty of fluid before, during and after class is necessary.
Hot yoga can help to improve flexibility and strength. Hot Yoga can also help with the ability to deal with stress and to increase relaxation. Hot yoga can be a very effective way of losing weight and toning up. The body can experience complete energy alignment (Chakra balancing) when performed on regular basis and with proper posture (asana) alignment.
A typical 60 minute session of hot yoga will burn about 500 to 800 calories, depending on a number of factors, such as your weight, your sex and how strenuously you participate.
Many people think that they need to be flexible to do yoga, but that's like saying you need to be strong to lift weights -just as you become stronger by lifting weights, you'll start to gain flexibility by doing yoga. This is especially true of hot yoga - because your muscles are warm, then your body will be more open and pliable and you'll find that you can stretch more deeply than you can at room temperature.
